Kalkan has long been considered the prettiest of the small coastal towns along Turkey´s Lycian coast. Nestling in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains with its maze of cobbled streets, white washed houses and flower covered alleyways. It has the charm of a tranquil fishing village where the simple houses have been lovingly restored to create the sophisticated atmosphere of an up market resort. The town is full of enchanting shops which stay open until late, a lively harbour, cafes and roof top restaurants to excite the discerning diner, jazz bars and a very smart marina where beautiful gulets, the traditional wood built fishing boats moor after day trips or stunning full week cruises.

Kalkan has a small pebble beach and many beach clubs which are open to non members. They offer sun beds, swimming, water sports, and restaurants and bar facilities. There are two sandy beaches in the immediate vicinity of Kalkan. The first being Patara (voted one of the world’s top ten beaches by "The Times") which is 16Km away to the west and Kapatus which is found at the bottom of ravine down some 100 plus steps but well worth the effort to bath in the beautiful turquoise sea. Kapatus is 6km to the East.
